Back From Vacation, For The First Time In SIX Years!!!

Hello everyone!

After being on vacation, and seeing the sights of home, I have decided that it is of utmost importance to finish the finale of the Grintana Series and bring it to your local Kindle and Nook books. The final of this series is going to be coming to you in three separate books, or all in one for those of you who haven't read the first two.

Along with this I am working on another collection of poetry, some works that are new, old but goodies and then some other stuff that probably doesn't make the first lick of sense when you first read it. But then again, I wouldn't be the Mystery Diva without a little confusion in all of this, now would I?

As far as my first vacation in over six years, yes, thank you, I did have a wonderful time. I can;t imagine ever being able to not see my family for more than 6 years again. I hope that I will be able to see them more than what it has been. It truly has been way too long since I last saw them all. My brother, God love him, married a wonderful woman, the mother of his son, and I could NOT be happier for them both than what I am.

Being able to spend quality time with my dad has been so beneficial to this writer lady here. I tell my boys all the time that family is not always blood, but those that are family should be treated as such. Well such the hypocrite am I that I have not even seen my own family in so long. But now that I have, it reminds me to tell you all to take in what the Grintana Series really is. It is about family. Who is family and who is not.... who should you know that will be there, no matter how long it may take. Who are the people that are brought into your life, why they were brought there and why they decided to exit or stay.

Life is all about what you want, and who you want to be. There is no one that can live your life for you, and if there is a mission in your life that you need to conquer, then no one can do it but you. The fact is though you should know that there is no shame in asking those you consider real family for help, and always understand that there is nothing more fulfilling that knowing that there is someone out there who is willing to drop everything, come to your aid, and bless your heart the way you feel is the best way.

Violence Vs. Inanimate Objects

Hello Readers!

People should be concerned,

I was in attendance at the City Council Meeting May 28th and I am shocked. Most of the meeting was typical until we got to the liquor code revision. I watch and attend out of curiosity more than anything and was beyond surprised at some of the things I heard. I agree some of the wording revisions are good, the codes do need updated.  Let me list my concerns, in no particular order:

The chief of police, they are giving a man who from his reactions to the public speaking which I saw as honest and informative too much power. You could watch his face and see his temper coming out yet he had no response or argument to the officers not doing their jobs (the walk-throughs he has spoken of many times). The managers of two bars stated this does not happen and he had no rebuttal but to flick the microphone and turn red in the face and huff, if this wasn't true why didn't he respond rather than having a temper tantrum with body language? And this man who cant even defend the officers not doing walk throughs is given the right to close down a bar for what he believes is a flagrant violation of the code, is he going to be able to defend his actions there?

Secondly councilman John Patrick Rice, I wrote one part of his frustrated rant as an exact quote the rest I will paraphrase as I understood it. "There is no expectation of privacy in 2013" that is a direct quote. This rant came about while discussing video surveillance in establishments open from 1am to 8am, they are asking for 24 hr surveillance available to police and city council at any time. Mr. Rice stated that if your in a public place you have no right to any privacy, that they plan to watch these tapes to prove that the bars are over serving. Okay yeah the bars do over serve I'm sure on occasion, and the violence is scary but to blame it solely on the bar establishments is laughable. What about casino's, drugs or pardon my opinion 21 year olds who were never taught discipline or respect. How dare he flagrantly say we have no right to privacy, if I go into a bar to have a cocktail in the afternoon I don't want to worry they will watch these tapes (either police or city council) and maybe use the fact I was in a bar against me, is this a military state? Thankfully the Mayor and Schmidtlein were logical enough to see the problems with this and voted to remove the surveillance section but they were outvoted.  We have a right to go into a public business and enjoy a bit of privacy irregardless of where we are. Privacy is defined in many ways, and this seems unconstitutional.

In my opinion they are pushing the bars for a shutdown using them as a scapegoat for something they don't know how to fix.

D. Shannon

Well, Mr. Shannon, I have to agree with you on every point you have made. I am quite surprised myself that a city councilman has the audacity to state: "there is no expectation of privacy in 2013." I am wondering if we can enter his home unannounced, at our leisure, and tell him his football game is too loud, or his dog is barking too much, or perhaps his dinner can be smelled way too much down the street. Afterall, there is no expectation of privacy, right?

Or even better, since they work for the city, shall we go into their office and check to see how loud their telephone conversations are? Perhaps that "rowdy" behavior will stem violent behavior. The city council is open to the public, which shares "no privacy."

The point here is simple. Bars cannot stem violence any more than a gun can kill a person or a fork causes someone to be obese. Lay a gun on a table, all day, in your own home, and chances are, everyone will still be alive. Violence is an act of nature, in all forms, and unfortunately for some, it does fall upon them. For the bars, it is the responsibility of the bartenders to take care of their customers, even if it means cutting them off. Really, it is as simple as that.

Take care dear citizens. You no longer have privacy and you are being watched by Big Brother of Elko.

Good Morning Readers!!!

I had the recent pleasure of meeting a renewed band in the local area. "One More Time" played and rocked out at Shooters Saloon last week. With the upbeat love of soul mixed with the heart throb of rock, we all partied with them and watched the dancers hit the floor running.

As most of you know, I live by music, and not often does a band really catch my attention. That being said, "One More Time" is one of those that, yeah, I would damn sure come and listen to them again, party to their southern and classic rock blends, and come back swingin for more.

You damn right I would.

This five member band works in the Elko area and is available to rock out parties, weddings, jams and more. Loving the fact that they are major open to all kinds of lifestyles and definitely LGBT friendly. Believe me, this isn't the thing that caught my eye.

What caught my attention was their concentration on your NOT so typical lounge musaks. Lounge singers, don't get me wrong... You guys can rock a show, too. But this group brought out the oldies and the goodies, threw them in a blender and said we don't serve water here bitches.

Get to know the band with the press right here, and find out how you can get them on with you next time. They wait for you, and they make it WORTH your while.

Laters peoples....

Love
