As Elko locals, workers and straight up good guys, Eden Shall Fall gave me the initial opportunity to listen to some old goodies made new. Now most of my readers are familiar with me taking off and listening to more localized groups rather than big number hits. This is no different.
Many of you also know that I will not post groups I just didn’t like. But Scotty, Keoni, tony and Jason are not in that “Yeah, no” group. These rock artists are just the tip of the home grown cake that Elko has to offer.
As if it wasn’t enough that the eye candy on stage is to drip and dream for, their takes on AC/DC, Johnny Cash and other top name stars are way more than enough to make a girl squirm in her seat. And for the guys? It’s great rock music, what else is there to need?
Most recently, Eden Shall Fall played at the Stockmen’s Hotel and Casino in the showroom. With great seating, a friendly atmosphere and a bar right there in the showroom, one could not ask for a better take. Groups large and small are welcome here with many tables to push together. Two dance floors allow the house to rock out with the band.
Scotty Mair leads the band. “[The band] takes in the energy from the audience and uses it to push on to make them happy. It’s our people that keep us going.” Local vocalist, guitarist and band leader, Mair launches his voice and himself to the crowd. It’s almost like being handed cotton candy and told there’s more where that came from.
On second lead guitar, youngster Keoni Miles simply holds caresses and feels his guitar. Think it might be his girl? Could be, since I don’t know that I have ever seen a man play with strings like that before. This original Hawaiian has a way of pushing that E and G string, if you know what I mean. Definitely worth seeing…..twice.
Rising to the occasion and beating right into our hearts is drummer Tony DePaola. Thumping, bumping and keeping that time…that time, that time….oh my that time. I think I might be visiting to see what time it just might be in.
That bass…….. Jason Stevenson plays that bass. All about it, his swaying livelihood brings it altogether. I'm fairly certain that had it been him who did that big radio hit, we would definitely be about it, too.
I'm so glad I got to see these guys in person, and you can bet as they travel and get things together to play in more areas, this diva is going to be right on their heels.
